Unit 51 - Magazine Conventions / Written Analysis / Audience Profile

This is my Magazine Convention 

The Task

Our task was to pick a double page spread from a magazine, with that spread we were to analyse it, we then were told to label our page and include all of the magazines conventions onto the outside of the page. I added all of the key words I knew and related it to the double page in which I was focusing on. This helped me to understand all the aspects put into a page in a magazine, all of these factors help to gain attention from the audience and the readers of the magazine. This task was very useful and is very good way to learn and evaluate the structures of different magazines, this will help me immensely when completing this unit of work, this was a very good task, I personally understand a lot about magazines and a set up of a double page spread.


What Did You Learn? 

When completing this task, I learnt about the set up and conventions of a magazine. This will help me to create my own magazine. When looking at real magazines, this enables me to understand to concept and set up of the layout and all of the elements which go into a double page spread.

How Will It Help Me In The Future? 

In the future I will be creating my own double page spread, this research and task will help me to make a good magazine article and page, within out this task and further research I wouldn't be able to create a correct magazine double page spread. This was a very good to undertake as this has given me the correct knowledge in order to create and make my own piece of work. 

This is my magazine convention analysis: From the 'Cosmopolitan Magazine'

Audience Profile, for the 'Cosmopolitan Magazine'. 

Gender : Female

Age: 18 - 35

Social Class: Middle Class

Status of Women Readers: Single Women/ People attending University - College

Interest: Mostly the women who are interested with, gossip, celebrities, fashion and makeup will usually be more interested with this magazine than others and the 'Cosmopolitan' includes all of these themes within their magazine. 

Who Reads This: Women will want to read this magazine in order to find out about other women like themselves, the reality of celebrities, and also the lifestyle in which people live, this can be to find out about advice. 

Facts

According to some research in which I had done about the 'Cosmopolitan', I have found information, the magazine is the most voted read magazine by students which attend university and college, this is also the case for those who are employed, this is also the most read by those who are women, working with children. This proves that the magazine shows real life situations, women may read this in order for advice and help.
